Background

Scott is the co-founder of Wilson Marshall and a distinguished lawyer with more than five decades of legal expertise. He earned his LLB from the University of British Columbia in 1972 and was called to the bar in May 1973. Scott’s unwavering commitment to determination, integrity, and responsibility has been the cornerstone of his thriving legal practice.

Scott’s dedication to legal excellence is exemplified by his impressive track record, which includes guiding multi-generational family businesses through complex succession plans and providing valuable assistance to local small businesses in establishing and expanding their operations nationwide. Additionally, Scott has led the development of multi-phase strata development plans from conception to completion, including securing financing, negotiating commercial leases, and complying with zoning and permitting requirements. Through his expertise, Scott has become a trusted legal advisor to clients across various industries.

As a former litigator with 35 years of experience, Scott has a deep understanding of the costs and inefficiencies of litigation, which has informed his current practice as a solicitor. He prioritizes finding cost-effective solutions for his clients, which has enabled them to avoid costly and protracted legal battles.

Scott’s commitment to his profession extends beyond his practice. He taught business law at Camosun College from 1979 to 1983 and served six years on the college’s Board of Governors. He remains an influential leader in the legal community, mentoring younger attorneys and sharing his knowledge and experience with others.

When he’s not practicing law, Scott enjoys spending quality time with his family and tending to his garden. He has been happily married for half a century, with three children and seven grandchildren, a testament to his love for family and the values that guide him.
